Information for Faculty & Staff

While the Bowdoin OneCard performs many functions for students, it also is a helpful tool for Faculty and Staff.

Polar Plus Account

Benefits-eligible Faculty and Staff may have a Polar Plus Account linked to their OneCard. They can use this account for purchasing meals in dining halls and Jack Magee's Grill, at the Cafe and convenience store in David Saul Smith Union, in the campus Bookstore, at campus services for personal mailing and shipping, stamps and printing, and to purchase tickets and other services at the David Saul Smith Union Information Desk.

Amounts charged on this account are deducted from the individual's paycheck each pay period. Contact Human Resources at x3837 or download the Polar Plus Payroll Deduction Authorization form (pdf).

Miscellaneous Account

Photocopies
Students, faculty, and staff pay 10 cents per side when photocopying using their own or their department's card. Use the OneCard Miscellaneous Account to pay for personal copies or speak to your supervisor or department chair about using department copy cards for work-related copying. For more information on department copy accounts, see the information on the Bowdoin College Library web pages.

Printing
There is no charge for printing in computer labs, but print stations do require you to swipe your card to release your print job. This is done to reduce waste and to also provide a level of security for your documents.

Vending Machines
Vending machines on campus accept the OneCard Miscellaneous Account for snack and beverage purchases. Cash is also accepted in all vending machines on campus.

How to Add Value
Add cash to the OneCard at one of the three automated cash deposit machines (CSVTs) located in Hatch Library, Hawthorne-Longfellow Library, and in the lobby of Coles Tower. Follow the prompts on the screen, but if you have any problems, ask the Library staff or Events and Summer Programs staff for help or contact onecard@bowdoin.edu.

Building and Room Access

Faculty and Staff use their OneCard for building and room access in buildings on campus equipped for OneCard access as they go about their day. The card provides access to the building that you work in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you find your card is not providing access to spaces you need, contact your supervisor or department chair about authorizing additional access. You will not need to bring your OneCard to us for that to happen.

More services and locations accepting the OneCard will continue to be added over time to enhance campus life for all of our community members. Check this web site and campus digests for updates. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us at onecard@bowdoin.edu!
